Well-established Finnish post-folk metal with a talented lady musician behind the concept, with devilish goth look, the voice of an angel and the growls of a demon. Really love the contrasting duality ever present here, it's so different than a "typical" folk band. This is still very special, and the atmosphere created by Vermilia is not the classic Finnish extreme metal, but still a captivating and immersive sound. This is an incredibly impressive album !!

Avec un genre donné, certains groupes vont le révolutionner tandis que d'autres vont le perfectionner : Lycanthia fait le second. Oligarchy, deuxième et ultime album du sextette australien, est une perle de death/doom metal gothique qui utilise violon et chants féminins et évite les écueils classiques. Le violon n'est pas qu'un faire-valoir et peut briller lors de nombreux morceaux de bravoure ; pas de styles "La Belle et la Bête" : Vanessa Black et Megan Robins ont l'ascendant. Excellent !!

US Atmospheric Folk / Black Metal. I cannot believe it has taken me this long to get this ! It is way beyond beautiful !!! The interplay between the harsh & female vocals as well as the drumming & violins in some songs is amazing. Highly recommended!!!
